Pattern: Residual Phlegm-Heat in the Lungs following an invasion of Wind (e.g. an acute upper respiratory infection).
Action: Clear Lung-Heat, resolve Phlegm, restore the descending of Lung-Qi, stop cough.
Caution and contraindications: This remedy has a cooling effect and it may therefore potentially injure the Spleen. However, this is only likely to occur if the remedy is given for a long time.

Explanation
Phlegm-Heat in the Lungs is formed usually at the Qi Level. This is the level following the Exterior stage of an invasion of Wind. If the pathogenic factor penetrates into the Interior, this usually is the Qi Level. In many cases however, Phlegm stays in the Lungs, usually combined with Heat.

In other words, it is not the amount of solids by themselves that is important, but the activity of those solids.

 This research has led to the development of an extraction process which produces our highly refined herbal products. Our proprietary methodology preserves the essential oils that awaken the senses and retain the delicate balance of the traditional five flavors which influence the qi dynamic necessary to produce the specific energetic activity of each formula. When increased nourishing essence for supplementation is required, our phase processing and temperature controls allow for maximizing the extractable solids without compromising any herbal activity.
